Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that The Voyeurs is a not-at-all-for-kids drama about a couple who find themselves watching their neighbors across the way. But what starts out as harmless fun becomes an obsession that leads to horrible things. The film focuses entirely on sex and watching sex, and to an absurdly violent extent. There are lots of sex scenes and full nudity. Some of these scenes are long and show lots of thrusting, touching, and romantic kissing. Unerect penises are briefly shown. Women are often nude, topless, and/or in the act of undressing or being undressed. There's some violence, including two different depictions of suicide, domestic abuse, toxic relationships, and multiple druggings and poisonings. A woman also kills a man. Adults and young adults are often shown drinking alcohol, smoking cigarettes, and smoking weed. Strong language throughout includes: "f--k," "f--ker," "f--king," "s--t," "c--t," "d--k," "t-ts," and "hell."

Sex, Romance & Nudity
a lot
Lots of nudity and depictions of sexual intercourse and other acts. Plenty of women are shown topless, in lingerie and underwear, in the act of undressing, and fully nude. Many sex scenes are featured, and some are long. Lots of touching (including hands on bare breasts), thrusting, and romantic kissing. Depictions of oral sex and masturbation also shown. Brief shots of unerect penises. Adults talk about sex, cheating, and intimate relationships.

Violence & Scariness
a lot
There's a scene that shows what looks like a man's suicide (shows a man hanging). Another scene shows what looks like a woman's suicide (shows a bloodied woman slumped over with a knife at her side). A brief scene of domestic violence is also witnessed (a man shoves his wife to the ground as they argue, and her glasses break). A man also aggressively uses his position of power to pressure a woman into having sexual intercourse. A man is poisoned and killed, then is made to look like he killed himself. A woman poisons a married couple. A woman takes a kitchen knife and almost stabs her husband. A woman is publicly shamed and embarrassed. A bunch of birds are found dead, having been poisoned. A woman steps on a glass shard with her bare foot.

Diverse Representations
a little
One of the main characters, Thomas, happens to be Black, just as Julia happens to be Asian Australian. Other side characters also happen to be of Asian descent. The lead, Pippa, is a bold young woman, but she spends a lot of time topless and/or naked.

It doesn't make sense
I honestly would've liked it if the plot twist wasn't like that. Like why would they have an observatory in a hidden attic. It doesn't fit in. And the guy had sex with several women to make it look like he's cheating, was that a part of their plan too? And his wife's okay with that? Also why would they even drink a wine that's mysteriously outside their door if they're so smart.

There’s better things to waste your time on
I just wasted an hour plus of my life watching this stupid movie. It’s more like a bad story telling soft porn flick than anything. Lots of nudity. Depiction of suicide might be a trigger for some. Storyline and plot ended up being severely disappointing and once it was over I regretted ever trying to give it a shot.

What's the Story?
In THE VOYEURS, Pippa (Sydney Sweeney) and Thomas (Justice Smith) are a young couple in love. They have dream jobs, live in a great city (Montreal), and just moved into a nice apartment. They quickly notice that across the way, they can see into their neighbors' (Ben Hardy and Liu Bordizzo) apartment. As they continue to watch, they start to witness crazy things. Before they know it, what started as harmless play turns into a deadly game.
Is It Any Good?

There's a lot to like about where this thriller eventually ends up, but it simply takes too long to get to its last act. Indeed, by the time that final act of The Voyeurs even begins, many viewers might find themselves already done, done with the characters, the story, and with caring about what happens.
The film spends way too much time during its first three quarters lingering on sex, women's bodies, bare breasts, and bare buttocks. This problem means that in order to get to its last (and most thrilling) act, many viewers might already be in too much disbelief to stomach what's necessary to get there. In other words, right before this final part, the film forces you to watch the main character finally achieve what she longed for, but at this point, most viewers won't care and won't want to see it either. This is too bad because the last part of The Voyeurs is actually its most thrilling, even if it's absurd. Lastly, while some will be able to find merit and power in this film about a young woman's (out of control) sexual desire, most will find it simply too much.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about nudity and depictions of sex in film. At what point does the nudity and sex in The Voyeurs become gratuitous and/or offensive? Does it? Why or why not?
In a film that makes voyeurs out of its viewers, did you feel uncomfortable being "placed" in that position? Why or why not?
Do you think Pippa really loved Thomas? If so, why? If not, why not?
