Northford Eda Mae Stender 1929 — 2024 Eda Mae (Self) Stender, 95, departed this life on July 25th, 2024. She was the beloved wife of the late William Stender for 72 years. Eda was born at home in Yalesville on February 8, 1929 to the late Bertram and Doris (Becroft) Self. Eda lived in Northford for years. She worked at Knudsen's Dairy, Dime Savings Bank, and G.Fox. She was a talented artist who loved to create portraits of loved ones and nature. She loved all animals and spent her summers at her cottage in East Haddam on Bashan Lake. Barbara was born in Bowdoinham, ME, on September 29, 1932, and was the daughter of the late Howard and Gladys Blair Brewer. After moving frequently throughout her childhood due to her father's military services, Barbara graduated from Booth Bay Harbor High School in Maine in 1950, at which point she then moved to the New Haven area with her family, where she met her husband, Robert.
